PATRICK M. SUMMERS (SLIM) 08/14/1950-09/04/24, in McHenry, Illinois. Preceded in death by parents James W. Summers and Betty J. Summers; Wife Mary Beth Summers; son Sam Summers. Survived by sister Stephanie (Tom O'Brien) Summers; children Timothy Summers, Shawn (Colleen) Summers, and Kelly (Ryan Stefka) Summers; grandchildren Laura (Kyle Snedeker) Summers Snedeker, Nicole (Ryan Sitter) Summers, Aidan (Grace Kilcommons) Summers, Davin Kelly and Dash Stefka; caregiver Heriberta Maskevich -- and loyal dog, Marvin. Patrick will also be greatly missed by his many friends and devoted After the Fox customers and employees. Patrick (Slim) Summers peacefully passed away in the early morning hours of September 4 th, surrounded by loved ones. Patrick was born in Chicago, IL. He graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1968 and went to Lincoln College for a short time. Patrick married Mary Beth in 1970 with whom he had two sons, Timothy and Shawn. He went on to drive a truck for Coca Cola to provide for his new family. Following Mary Beth's death, Patrick moved to Libertyville where he continued his career with Coca-Cola and raised his two sons. On September 27 th, 1982, Patrick opened After the Fox bar and restaurant in McHenry, Illinois. Soon after, Patrick made the McHenry area his home and had two more children, Kelly and Sam. Since being founded by Patrick in 1982, After the Fox has become a cornerstone of the community and a favorite local spot for many. Patrick could regularly be seen hosting or at his corner stool waiting to greet customers with his quick wit and off-balance sense of humor. Patrick was revered in the community and supported numerous charitable foundations. In his free time, Patrick could be found spending time with his friends, children, grandchildren, and his loyal dog Marvin. He enjoyed traveling, playing golf, trying new cuisines, and attending sporting events and concerts. He was an avid fan of the Chicago White Sox and Arizona Cardinals, and his favorite band was The Who. The family wishes to express their forever gratitude to his in-home caregiver, Eri, whose loving and skillful attention to his needs in his last few years he so greatly valued.
A memorial service will be held at Colonial Funeral Home on Wednesday October 16 th from 3:00pm until 7:00pm.

Slim often didn't have to say a word. He sat at his corner seat and his wry smile revealed all.
