Patrick Thomas White

Patrick Thomas White, 88, of Leland, NC, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026, from complications following surgery. He was born in New York City, NY, and raised in Elizabeth, NJ to the late Patrick Joseph and Theresa Mary (Schweiger) White. He graduated from Seton Hall Preparatory School and promptly joined the US Navy, in which he served for three years. Later, Patrick earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Seton Hall University. Patrick's various occupations included insurance sales, air conditioning and heating, a substantial stretch at IBM, and eventually public service work for Union County, New Jersey.

Patrick and Patricia relocated to Transylvania County, NC, following their retirements from public service. Patrick enjoyed traveling, Catholic studies, the History Channel, navy ships, and old westerns. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Brevard, NC, where he also served as a lector and eucharistic minister. Patrick will be laid to rest in the Columbarium at the church and the family is requesting donations be made to his beloved church, please see link below.

Patrick is survived by his wife of 56 years Patricia (Trocino), daughters Celeste White of Lakewood, CO; Mary Elizabeth White of Monroe Township, NJ; son Patrick M. White of Bridgewater, NJ; grandsons Jeffrey Florczak (Kelly) and Patrick J. White; granddaughter Bethany White; and great-granddaughter Zoe Florczak. He was predeceased by his son Brian P. White, MD, and granddaughter Emily White. Patrick is also survived by his brother, Kevin White, and his sisters, Joan Vincent (Frank), Kathleen Von St. Paul, and Eileen Siegeltuch (Andrew), as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Patrick touched the lives of all who knew him. He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.

His family has entrusted Patrick's care to Wilmington Funeral & Cremation, 1535 S. 41st Street, Wilmington, NC 28403.
