Patsy Jean Ownsbey Kelley, 82, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, in Haltom City, Texas, after a long battle with Dementia.

She was born on July 31, 1942, in Graham, Texas, to Aultie Clayton (A.C.) “Buck” and Lora Willson Ownsbey. From an early age, Patsy had a deep love of family, an adventurous spirit, and a desire to care for others. She graduated as valedictorian from Paradise High School in 1960, then continued her education, earning her degree from North Texas State University. In July 1962, Patsy married the love of her life, Richard Kelley, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Their marriage was a testament to faith and partnership, spanning 62 joyful years. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Russell and Kimberly, and later delighted in the joys of grandparenthood. For 29 years, Patsy was an elementary school teacher in the Birdville Independent School District, serving at Watauga Elementary and Alliene Mullendore Elementary. Her passion for education was matched only by her deep love for her students whom she mentored and encouraged with unwavering patience and wisdom. Patsy was a gracious hostess, a talented baker and the queen of all holidays. She went above and beyond to ensure all family and friends were well-fed and well-loved, always creating special moments and memories for everyone. Patsy and Richard shared a love of traveling, seeing the world together hand in hand. They visited all 50 states, embarked on countless cruises, and made memories that lasted a lifetime.

A devoted woman of faith, Patsy was a lifelong servant of Christ and a faithful member of North Pointe Baptist Church in Hurst, Texas. She was always willing to lend a helping hand in one of the church’s many activities and outreach programs.

Above all, Patsy was a woman of love. Nothing brought her greater joy than to spend time with family and friends. Her legacy of faith, kindness, and selfless love will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

Patsy is survived by her son, Russell Kelley and wife, Bryana, of Hutchinson, Kansas; her daughter, Kimberly Urbina and husband, Alex, of North Richland Hills; her adored grandchildren, Marshall (Morgan) Kelley, Zane (Amy) Harrington, Chandler (Jacob) Stoughton, Kaylie (Cody) Molloy, and Madeline Urbina; and her precious great-grandchildren: Taylen, Raylie, Lanie, Beck, Calloway, Kai, Corbin, and Jayce. She is also survived by several in-laws, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of dear friends.

Patsy was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; parents, Lora and A.C.; siblings, Joann Chism, Marilyn Coffee, Bobby Ownsbey and Paula Stogner.

A celebration of Patsy’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at North Pointe Baptist Church in Hurst, Texas. Burial will follow at 4:30 p.m. at Paradise Cemetery in Paradise, Texas. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Friday, March 28, 2025 at North Pointe Baptist Church.
