Patty Jean Shreve Decker Phillips passed from this life on May 27, 2025, at her home in Weston. She had been in her usual health and death was unexpected.
Patty was born Sunday, July 22, 1945, in Cassity, a daughter of the late Clifford Earl and Geraldine Fox Shreve.
Patty was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Calhoun, two brothers in law, Delmas (Butch) Collins and Carl Summerville, and son in law, Paul Miles.
Left to cherish Patty's memory are two daughters, Sonia Lynn Miles of Weston, Melissa Dawn Vandevender and husband Phillip (Darrell), two sons, Marcus Dywane Decker and wife, Norma, of Cassity, Douglas Allen Decker of Weston, two sisters Linda Lue Collins of Beverly and Mona Lisa Summerville of Elkins, one brother Kenneth Earl Shreve and wife Franki of Elkins, seventeen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Patty attended the schools of Randolph County and had worked at Reidbord Brothers, ERCC, Companion Care Corp., and Select-In-Home Care before she moved to Weston where she opened a little restaurant, Gene and Pat's Country Kitchen. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, gardening, and baking.
Graveside services will be held at Cassity Cemetery on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 11am with interment to follow.
