Obituary of Paul Ross Avery
SCHENECTADY –
Paul Ross Avery, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away suddenly at the age of 64 on August 17, 2025.
Born on November 14, 1960, in Amsterdam, NY, Paul was the cherished son of Robert and Jane (Martin) Avery.
Paul dedicated many years of his life to serving his community through the Stanford Heights Fire Department. Throughout his service, he held key roles such as Captain, Social Officer and Board Commissioner. His commitment and leadership left a lasting impact on his colleagues and the community he served so faithfully.
Paul is survived by his devoted wife, Susan Avery, and his loving daughter, Megan (George) Seavey. He was a proud stepfather to Amy Robusto and doting grandfather to Adelyn Seavey, who brought him endless joy. Paul's legacy also lives through his siblings: Ed (Debbie) Avery, Keith (Toniann) Avery, Roberta (Wayne) LaMont, Tim (Sallie Ann) Avery, Robert Avery, Jr., John Avery, Peter (Terry) Avery, and Mike (Vicky) Avery. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
A celebration of Paul's life will take place on Sunday, October 12, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Stanford Heights Fire Department, 2238 Central Avenue, Schenectady, NY 12304. Paul's memory will live on in the hearts and stories of those who loved him.
