Paul David Brookshire, a devoted family man, dedicated public servant, and faithful follower of Christ, passed away peacefully at his home in Walnut Grove, Missouri, on February 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on March 4, 1929, Paul lived a life of service, integrity, and unwavering faith. In his early years, he worked as a stagehand for the Ozark Jubilee, contributing to one of the most iconic country music television shows of its time. His love for hard work and dedication to his craft were evident even then, setting the foundation for a life filled with purpose.
Paul honorably served in the U.S. Navy Reserves and was called to active duty during the Korean War. He later dedicated 34 years to the Springfield Fire Department, serving the last 20 years as a captain, leading with bravery, strength, and commitment to his fellow firefighters and the community. While balancing his career as a firefighter, he also managed a cattle farm in Walnut Grove, embodying the values of hard work and perseverance.
After retirement, Paul and his beloved wife, Alberta, dedicated their time to missionary work through the MAPS program, traveling extensively to build churches and homes. Their journey was not just about construction but about spreading the love of Jesus and forging lasting friendships along the way.
Paul is survived by his daughter, Alberta "Faye" Estep, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren all of whom were blessed by his wisdom, kindness, and steadfast love. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta Brookshire; son, David Brookshire; father, Senne Brookshire; mother, Faye Brookshire; granddaughter, Holi House; and siblings.
Paul's life was a testament to his deep faith, love for his family, and commitment to his farm. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A celebration of his life will be held to honor his memory, and his family invites all who knew him to join in remembering a man who made a profound impact on so many.
Rest in peace, Paul, knowing that your love and faith have left an everlasting mark on this world.
Family and friends are invited to share in fellowship and food in the event center at the Cowboy Church on highway EE in Willard.
In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions be made to the Foreign Mission in Africa, 58 W. Central Street, Springfield, MO 65803
