It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Paul David Cameruci, age 76, on July 18, 2025, in Columbus, Ohio. His passing is a personal tragedy for which we will mourn for the rest of our lives. But to the community in which he lived, his death is nothing short of calamity. In moments like this, we often hear, "It's better to light a candle than to curse the darkness." And so, in my heart, I light a candle. ________________________________________ A Life of Service, Wit, and Unwavering Love Born on June 16, 1949, in Springfield, Ohio, Paul was a man of remarkable intellect, unwavering dedication, and a truly one-of-a-kind wit. He believed deeply in the motto, "Persevere, overcome, and adapt," a principle he embodied throughout his diverse and impactful life. Paul proudly served his country with distinction. As an Airborne Ranger, he bravely faced combat in the Vietnam War and later continued his service as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army until 1979. After his military career, Paul pursued higher education with a thirst for knowledge, earning a Bachelor of Science from the University of Dayton in 1983, followed by a master's in chemistry from the University of Virginia in 1984. His academic achievements led to a distinguished career as a Forensic Scientist and Agent for the FBI, where his keen mind and meticulous nature made a significant difference. Later, he embarked on a second career as a residential Environmental Engineer, a testament to his enduring passion for the environment. Beyond his professional life, Paul was an avid reader and a devoted US Civil War historian, always eager to delve into the past. He was deeply passionate about the environment and, above all else, his beloved grandson. Paul was a strict but incredibly loving and nurturing father who cared deeply for his family and friends. People will remember him most for always being there, always ready to volunteer help when needed, and for his remarkable ability to inspire others to strive for their utmost best. His witty sense of humor, often delivered with a twinkle in his eye, would light up any room. ________________________________________ Family Paul was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathy Cameruci, who passed away on December 5, 2005, and his parents, Henry David and Esta Ruth. He leaves behind a loving family who will miss him dearly: his daughter, Alexandra Cameruci and her husband, Jacob Skinner; his daughter, Anna-Marie; his son, Vito Cameruci and his partner, Caleb Potter; and his special son, Dion Sims. He was the proud grandfather of Antoni Giacobbe Cameruci-Skinner. He also leaves behind close friends Kathy Scalf, Veronica Davis, Joe and Michelle Poelking as well as many others. ________________________________________ Donations In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Ohio Hospice, an organization dedicated to providing compassionate care. Ohio Hospice 2269 Cherry Valley Rd. A celebration of life will be held later. Day Funeral Service is honored to serve the family of Paul Cameruci.

May you find the peach you gave to others - or lack thereof. "As you sowed, so shall you reap, in this life or the next". Some lights go out and the world gets brighter.
