Paul G. Cassidy, 95, of Bloomingdale, Illinois, passed away peacefully at his home on November 15th, 2024. Born on December 11, 1928, in Elmhurst, Illinois, Paul was the eldest son of James and Vivian Cassidy. A devoted resident of Bloomingdale for 64 years, he was deeply cherished by his family, friends, and the wider community.
Paul is survived by his four daughters: Susan (Kevin) Holmberg, Beth (Tom) Schramm, Lauren (Steve Anderson) Cassidy, and Jennifer (Laurent) Davis. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Danielle, Jessica, Alex, Emily, Kirsten, Rachael, Olivia, Nolan, Hannah, and Braden, and a devoted great-grandfather to Cassidy, Connor, Luna, Lillian, and Elliana. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Dolores R. Cassidy, as well as his parents and sisters, MaryAnn Mann and Ruth Webster.
A graduate of York High School, Paul pursued engineering studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In 1951, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served as a land surveyor during the Korean War. Following his military service, Paul attended Belleville and Scholasticate Seminaries receiving his Baccalaureate in Theology and Divinity, which furthered his deep sense of charity and compassion. Ultimately, he found his calling in the engineering field and went on to establish Paul G. Cassidy & Company Inc. His entrepreneurial acumen and innovative spirit led to several patents in his field, solidifying his legacy in the industry.
In 1961, Paul married Dolores R. Zoellner at Saint Alexander's Catholic Church in Villa Park, Illinois. Together, they built a family centered around love, laughter, and shared experiences. Paul was particularly proud of his business and family life, in which he was known for his unwavering integrity, tireless work ethic, and deep commitment to those he loved.
An avid traveler, Paul enjoyed numerous family vacations to destinations such as Hawaii, Alaska, Europe, and the Colorado Rockies. These trips instilled a lifelong love of adventure in their daughters and created enduring memories. In his later years, Paul embraced long-distance cycling, enjoyed camping in his motor coach, and relished his time at their condo. His enthusiasm for life and adventure remained boundless.
Even in retirement, Paul's energy and passion never waned. He devoted countless hours to his beloved yard, meticulously tending to his garden, planting flowers, trimming trees, and maintaining his property. For Paul, his yard was more than a physical space; it was a sanctuary-a place where he found peace and contentment. Whether family, friends, or neighbors were looking for him, they could always find Paul immersed in nature, working on yet another project.
Paul's legacy is one of steadfast dedication to his family, a pioneering spirit in his work, and a commitment to living life to the fullest. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. His adventurous spirit, entrepreneurial success, and devotion to his loved ones will leave an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Susan, Lauren, Beth, Jennifer and your families. I am so sorry for the loss of your Dad, a remarkable man. He was truly one of a kind from his vast areas of knowledge, curiosity, travel, business and his beloved yard and home. Right to the end seeing him on his tractor happy as can be will always be a cherished memory. Although he is at peace with your Mom, we all know it leaves all of you who loved him in pieces. My hope is your tears turn to smiles as his memory grows within your hearts. With sincerest sympathies The Cardelli Family
