Dr. Paul Christopher Contard

Winterville, NC - Beloved brother, twin, uncle, friend, doctor, mentor, teacher, Dr. Paul Christopher Contard passed away August 18th, 2023, age 67.
Paul was born April 18th, 1956 in Brooklyn N.Y. He was pre-deceased by his parents Dorothy and Michael Contard, his sister Linda Trezza (nee Contard) and brother-in-law Angelo, brother Michael Contard, brother Christopher Contard Sr. and sister-in-law Margaret, great-nephew Timothy Contard and nephew Ian Contard.
He is survived by his twin brother, Peter Contard, and sister-in-law Elaine, niece Lauren, brother Robert Contard and sister-in-law Kaycee, brother Richard Contard, brother James Contard and sister-in-law Carol and sister-in-law Monica. He is also survived by his nephew, Christopher Contard Jr. and wife Ellen, great-nephew Alex, great-nieces Jordan, Nora, Annabelle and Trinity, niece Amanda and her husband Garrett, nephew Jake, as well as many cousins, friends and colleagues.
Growing up with his seven siblings in Brooklyn N.Y., Paul attended St. Ephrem's grammar school, Xaverian High School and graduated from Brooklyn College. After obtaining a Ph.D in biology, Paul was accepted at Mount Sinai Medical School and became a Doctor of Dermatology. Paul established a thriving practice in Staten Island N.Y., for many years, before recently retiring to a teaching position in North Carolina at East Carolina University.
Paul was known for his ethics, keen wit and sense of humor, and for being a caring and attentive physician to his patients and staff. He was a passionate defender of animal rights, who rescued several abandoned dogs and cats. In addition to his medical expertise, Paul was also a black belt in Tai Kwan Do karate as well as a lifelong Met and Jet fan who enjoyed playing football, softball and basketball. Paul had a lifetime interest in all types of learning and teaching. In his younger years, Paul was a skilled auto mechanic and handyman. He enjoyed reminiscing and joking with his brothers and friends. He touched many, many lives in a positive way and will be greatly missed.
