Paul Phillip Duncan, age 71, known to family and friends as Phil, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2025, in Carbondale, Illinois.

Phil was born July 28, 1954, at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana. He grew up in Greenwood, Indiana, and traveled throughout the United States, making friends and memories. He loved meeting new people and sharing stories. Music was his passion, and he passed his joy of guitar and singing on to his sons. Phil loved designing and building homes, using his carpentry skills to bring his ideas to life. He was a loving father who gave his whole heart to his children. His resilient spirit allowed him to maintain a positive outlook even during hardship and illness.

Phil is survived by his children: Shawn Liam Duncan and Nathan Thomas Duncan; his father, Paul Mathew Duncan; and his siblings: Mark Duncan, Denise Carter (Jimmy), and Todd Duncan (Beth). He was preceded in death by his mother, Agnes Cecile Duncan.

A graveside service, presided over by Reverend Richard Bell, will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Friday, November 28, 2025, at 11 a.m. He will be remembered for his warmth, his friendliness, and the music he brought into the lives of those he loved.
