Paul Raymond Eastman was born August 30, 1946 in Hendricks, MN to Raymond and Eleanor (Engen) Eastman. He was raised on the family farm east of Brandt, SD and was baptized and confirmed at Highland Lutheran Church. Paul attended grade school in Brandt and graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1964. After graduation, Paul attended South Dakota State University and graduated in 1968 with a degree in Animal Science. After graduating from South Dakota State University Paul enlisted in the United States Air Force. After Paul's military service was completed he started working for Trojan Seed Company and through the years worked for various other seed companies while running the family farm.
Paul was united in marriage to Kay Ella Newman on July 22, 1972 at Highland Lutheran Church. To this union they were blessed with six children: Travis, Wade, Shane, Troy, Cody, and Autumn.
Paul had the good fortune to raise his very own family on the same farmstead where he was raised. Paul farmed until the early 2000's and then he found a new passion in his life where he could better spend and make a lifetime of memories with his sons and his hunting dog, Jake. Paul not only enjoyed hunting with family and friends, but he also enjoyed guiding pheasant hunters at many hunting lodges throughout the state of South Dakota. Paul was a proud lifetime resident of the Brandt community and lifetime member of the Highland Lutheran Church where he served for many years in numerous positions on the church council.
In the later years Paul and Kay enjoyed many journeys to Arizona where they spent the winter. Both Paul and Kay enjoyed the warm weather and cooking many delicious meals at gatherings with family and friends while wintering in Arizona. As winter turned to spring it was top priority for Grandpa Paul and Grandma Kay to return home in time for the upcoming baseball season to watch their grandchildren play. One of Paul's fondest memories was watching his two oldest grandchildren win a state high school baseball championship together.
Paul lived for his family and all his friends and neighbors. Paul was so grateful for having shared his life with Kay and his six children: Travis (Teresa) of Dell Rapids, SD, Wade of Sioux Falls, SD, Shane of Brookings, SD, Troy of Sturgis, SD, Cody (Heidi) of Brandt, SD, and Autumn (Seamus) Culhane of Strandburg, SD; 10 grandchildren: Kaeden Eastman, Treyse Eastman, Drake Eastman, Violet Eastman, Isaac Eastman, Signe Eastman, Granite Eastman, Eleanor Eastman, Teal Culhane, and Rowan Culhane and his siblings: Gene (Darlene) Eastman and Beverly (Keith) Kelton
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Eleanor Eastman, father and mother-in-law Kermit and Helen Newman and brother-in-law, Craig Newman.
