Paul Egan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory on Feb. 10, 2026.
Paul Richard Egan, Sr., of Kathleen, Georgia, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026. He was 84 years old.

Paul was born on November 17, 1941, in Elmira, New York, to the late Edwin and Thelma (Fassett) Egan. After graduating high school, Paul proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served his country with honor and dedication, rising to the rank of Corporal (E-4). His time in the Marines was a source of great pride that stayed with him throughout his life.

Following his military service, Paul went on to serve his community through a career with the Chemung County Sheriff's Department as a Correctional Officer, from which he eventually retired. Known for his strong work ethic, Paul was an active and hardworking man who believed in doing things right and giving his best in all he did. Paul was one of the first Emergency Medical Technicians certified in New York State for Erway Ambulance. He was a lifelong member of the Elmira Heights New York Fire Department. He was known as "Porky". He was also known for his deep love of animals.

Paul enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Moose Club. He was a man of deep Christian faith who loved the Lord and lived his life guided by his beliefs. Above all else, Paul's greatest joy was his family. He loved them dearly and treasured every moment spent together.

Paul was preceded in death by his beloved son, Boyd "Biffy" Fish; his precious granddaughter, Heather Ann LaLonde; his parents; his brother, Kenny Egan; his sister, Roena Lovell; his sister-in-law, Rose Egan; and his brother-in-law, Robert Lovell.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife, Ruby (Rumsey) Egan; his sons, Ray Egan (Tina) of Kathleen, Georgia, Paul Richard "Bubba" Egan, Jr. of Lowman, New York, and David Egan (Jennifer) of Lowville, New York; his daughter, Julie LaLonde of Elmira, New York; his grandchildren, Kevin, Seth, Grace, Brandon, Morgan, and Maxwell; along with numerous great-grandchildren and extended family members who will miss him dearly.

Paul will be remembered for his strength, faith, service to others, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy of dedication, kindness, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
