Rodney Hefty Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory on Mar. 6, 2026.
Rodney Dean Hefty, 82, of Kathleen, Georgia, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Rodney was born on November 1, 1943, in Brush, Colorado, to the late Samuel Hutzell Hefty and Helen Inez Hefty (Kennison). A true jack of all trades, Rodney had a remarkable ability to fix just about anything. He was known for his hard work, practical skills, and willingness to lend a helping hand whenever it was needed.

Rodney enjoyed many simple pleasures in life. He spent countless hours cutting wood, working in his yard, and browsing flea markets in search of hidden treasures. He also enjoyed spending time at the shooting range. Whether working outdoors or tinkering on a project, Rodney found satisfaction in staying busy and using his hands.

Above all else, Rodney loved his family. Spending time with them brought him the greatest joy in life, and he treasured every moment shared with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Rodney was preceded in death by his brother, Marlan Hefty.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Charlene May Hefty (Von Bargen); his children, Kathy Danielson (Doug), Michael Hefty, Vicky Smith (Michael), Brent Hefty, and Deanna Villanueva (Arsenio); nine grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Donnie Hefty and Larry Hefty (Laurene), and his sister, Janet Hammon.

Rodney will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love of the outdoors, and most of all for the deep love he had for his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

With honor, Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with handling arrangements.
