Obituary For Paul Gaglio
In loving memory of Paul Gaglio, 85, who left us on July 25, 2025. Born on March 21, 1940, Paul passed away unexpectedly while visiting his hometown in Sicily. This trip was particularly special as he was thrilled to show his children and grandchildren the beautiful place where he grew up. Paul delighted in sharing his memories, from his childhood home and his grandparents' farm to the spectacular views that he held close to his heart which made it a magical trip. His family takes comfort knowing that his last weeks were spent meaningfully, walking the familiar cobblestone streets, enjoying the warm breezes, eating comforting food and chatting with the locals in the square each night.
Paul leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and devotion to his family and friends. He was the beloved husband of Marcella Gaglio for 58 years and missed her terribly in the year since she passed. Predeceased by his cherished siblings, Sarina Nocilla, Pellegrino Gaglio, and Catherine Zingales, he is survived by his loving younger sister, Lillian D'Armetta, who will miss cooking and caring for her older brother. Paul was a devoted father to Paula Young and her husband Todd, Michele Ferrante and her husband John, Michael Paul Gaglio and his wife Kristi, and Antonia Lombardi. He was adored by his nine grandchildren: Brandon Paul Young, Amanda Young, Gabriella Ferrante, Arianna Ferrante, Joseph Paul Lombardi, Sarina Lombardi, Michael Paul Gaglio Jr., Matthew Mason Gaglio, and Ryan Paul Gaglio, all of whom he was immensely proud of. They will all miss their "Nonno" that was always larger than life.
Born in Caltabellotta, Sicily, to Michele and Antonia Gaglio, Paul spent his early years in his beloved hometown before immigrating to
Staten Island, NY as a teenager. He was the proud owner and operator of Paul Gaglio General Contractors, Inc. He held great pride in the quality reputation of his masonry contracting company and the legacy and skills passed to him from his grandfather and father. He then shared it all with his son Michael who has continued to grow and operate the business built through hard work and dedication. He instilled in all his children and grandchildren an exceptional work ethic. He expected hard work and his family heard countless times that, "You get nothing for nothing" and "You got to give to take". Lessons that will never be forgotten.
Paul's smile could light up a room, and his heart was always open to others. He had a lasting impact on all who knew him. Paul had a deep love for his home in the Catskill Mountains, where he spent countless days surrounded by nature, riding on his tractor, enjoying hunting, and tending to his garden filled with vibrant colors. He was an enthusiastic member of the Staten Island Camaro Car Club and loved attending car shows with his 1972 Ninetyeight Oldsmobile. Above all, Paul cherished time spent with his family and friends and was immensely proud of his close family. His love, wisdom, and laughter will remain forever in the hearts of those he touched.
