Paul Carl Hatfield, 71, of Gravel Switch, KY passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, KY after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born on September 28, 1953 to the late Thomas and Helen Hatfield.

Mr. Hatfield enjoyed a long career with Branscum Construction, overseeing many projects but his crowning achievements included the construction of multiple cancer treatment centers in Kentucky. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to spend time with his family and friends, especially at dirt-track races.

Mr. Hatfield is survived by his wife, Shellie Hatfield, of Gravel Switch, KY; two daughters Shannon Curry (Mike) of Russell Springs, KY and Amanda Cook (Todd) of Knoxville, TN; three stepchildren, Amanda Wesley (Brian) of Broomfield, CO, Brandon Wesley (Tiffany) of Nashville, TN, and Dana Shely (Matt) of Lawrenceburg, KY; four grandchildren, Lily and Addison Rucker and Jazmine and Elijah Curry; five step-grandchildren Aubrey and Gauge Wilson, Leah Shely, Riggin and Bixby Wesley; sister Ruby Holmes (Rollin) of Columbia, KY and a host of extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Hatfield was preceded in death by two brothers, Herman and Ronnie Hatfield, and two sisters, Dorothy Holmes and Wanda May.

Funeral services will be 1:00pm Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with burial in the New Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm and will continue Sunday until time for the service at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.

Bro. Jerry Brown and Bro. Randy Douglas will be officiating and pallbearers will be Tom Hatfield, Elijah Curry, Dana Shely, Matt Shely, Terry Turner, and Doug Holmes and Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Turner, Stephen Hart and Kelly Warren.
