Paul Edwin Jones, known affectionately as Coach Paul and Buddy, passed away on October 18, 2024. Born on September 17, 1953, in Dallas, Texas to Paul Wesley Jones and Billie Lee Chatham Rollinson. Paul grew up in Lancaster before making his home in Irving, Texas, for the last 45 years.
Paul was a proud graduate of Lancaster High School. His career began in the construction of new subdivision homes across the DFW area starting in 1972, and he later transitioned into commercial and residential remodeling. A respected Past Master of the Grand Lodge, Paul was also a dedicated Freemason within the same institution.
On June 20, 1979, he married Frances Ruby Jones. Paul was a stalwart figure in local sports, notably as a beloved coach of baseball for the IBBA and an avid fan of the Texas Rangers. His love extended beyond sports, as he was often found cooking for family gatherings and savoring his role as a grandfather. Paul had the unique ability to connect with people; he never met a stranger and consistently found the good in others when no one else could.
Paul is survived by his life partner, Kathy Parker; sons, Paul Jones and wife Kimberly, Stephen Jones, and Brian Jones and wife Abbey; daughter, Melissa and her husband Joe Soriano; step-daughter, Ashley and her husband Sean Franco; grandchildren, Ty, Luke, Ava, Aspen, Mason, Jojo, Jaxson, Jayden, Mackenzie, Jordyn, Brayden, Jaxon, and Canaan; sister, Teresa Jones; close nephew, John Brown, his wife Davan and their children; as well as numerous friends and extended family members.
Preceded in death by his parents; grandparents Edwin Lee and Sybil Chatham; sister, Sherry Ann Jones; his dear wife, Frances Ruby Jones, and his close friends Jim Taylor and Dennis Bittner.
Paul's life was a testament to his youthful spirit and enduring kindness. As we remember him, we appreciate every thoughtful prayer and all the respect given during this time of mourning. Paul Edwin Jones will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
