Paul Francis Lewis, 96, of Mooresville, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Avalon Senior Living. He was born in Indianapolis on July 8, 1929, to the late Edward and Eva (Hutson) Lewis.
Paul had a talent for woodworking. He spent most of his life in carpentry, owning his own business, and later committing himself to helping other builders. He had a passion for building treasured furniture and keepsakes for his family. Bedroom sets, doll houses, and platform rockers were among the many pieces he crafted.
Paul was a dedicated member of Southland Community Church in Greenwood. With a servant's heart, Paul invested a great deal of his time in building things for the church, its members, and friends.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Paula and John Goodnight, and granddaughter, Hilary Goodnight. In addition to his parents, Paul is preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Lois (Snider) Lewis; brothers, Jack, John, and Joseph Lewis; and sisters, Jessie Witte and Waneta McGill.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, October 13, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow in Mt. Pleasant Hall Cemetery.

Since I only met Paul on October 2nd just a few days ago my best memory is sharing meals and the dining room at Avalon Assisted Living where I met he and his family. We talked a bit about fishing and music and I learned about his lifetime career background. He was a lovable character from the moment we met. I learned that he love the song You Are My Sunshine and we shared singing this just the day before he went to heaven. So Paul although we weren't lifetime friends , but I felt like I knew a lifetime about you and it was a pleasure to meet your family as well. You can now sing our favorite song and the glory of God Sunshine anytime you wish. So I pray that you will be shining down on us as we break bread and share happy thoughts of you. God give Comfort to Paula, and rest of the family as they cherish memories and all the love. From a short time friend so happy to meet you. God willing I will see you again and we will sing a song together. From Jean
