Paul Malone was welcomed home into the loving arms of Jesus on Monday, April 8, 2024, surrounded by his beloved family.
A lifelong resident of Wadena County, Paul was born to Patrick and Magdelena (Tabery) Malone on June 30,1934 and was the eighth of their twelve children. He graduated from Sebeka High School with great friendships and school pride. Shortly after graduating, he chose dairy farming for his career because he loved caring for the land and animals. He was progressive and farmed with passion and the purpose of taking care of others to provide food to share at their tables. Paul had a heart of gold and found the love of his life at a local pub. He asked for her hand in marriage on St. Patrick's Day. Vera Wegscheid said "Yes!". Their "I Do's" were shared on September 3, 1962, in Bluffton, MN at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
Paul and Vera's nine children were taught valued traditions of farming, gardening, hunting, fishing, construction, being avid sports fans, caring for others, loving unconditionally, and sharing Irish wisdom and humor. Paul looked forward to hosting and celebrating any occasion with family and friends. Everyone knew they were welcome at their home. His unwavering faith in God taught others to lead by example. Paul was a lifelong member of St. Hubert's Parish in Bluegrass. He also enjoyed serving others through the Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus, Northern Lights Chorale, church choir, and community service clubs.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife Vera of 61 years; children: Bill (Deana) Malone, Wadena, MN; Pat (Sue) Malone, Saratoga, WY; Paula (Jim) Walz, Sebeka, MN; Vern Malone, New York, NY; Charlotte (Mark) Merchlewicz, St. Cloud, MN; Deb (Joe) Renelt, Cedar Park, TX; Dan (Tanya) Malone, Wadena, MN; JoAnn (Mac) Olson, Sebeka, MN; and Matt (Jody) Malone, Frazee, MN; 30 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; along with siblings: Eileen Johnson, Tom Malone, Patty Kicker, and Joan Vokurka.
Preceding Paul in death were his parents, Patrick and Magdelena Malone; siblings, John Malone, Maurice Malone, Martin Malone, Lorraine Goeden, Joseph Malone, Richard Malone, and Eugene Malone; grandson, Thomas Merchlewicz; and great grandson, Jack Windels.
May the Lord always bless and keep you.
