Paul Roberts passed away on May 13, 2025 at home. He was 97 years old. He lived life on his own terms starting as an adventurous child exploring the woods of Haddonfield, NJ with his buddies, left high school to become a marine during World War II then later a mailman, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend and neighbor.
Paul enjoyed boating, fishing, walking, riding his bike, sitting on the bench up at the beach and in his backyard just reading a good book. In his 60's Paul traveled by himself to most of the National Parks out west and shared his stories and pictures for years. It didn't matter who you were, you looked at all the pictures. He never passed up a chance to play a game of Rummy talking smack to his opponents the whole time. His 100 year old house had been flooded by Hurricane Sandy in 2012 and then burned down in 2022. It was tough on him but after each tragedy he was able to come out better than before. A kind quiet man, Paul was always agreeable to try anything and always available. He was the kind of life worth emulating.
Paul was predeceased by his parents, William and Gertrude (Schneider) Roberts and his siblings William Roberts, Marion Roberts and Ruth Gallagher.
He is survived by daughter Patricia Oliveri; granddaughter Carissa (Brian) Kaskela; great grandson Jacob Kaskela.
There will be a visitation on Saturday, May 31, 2025 from 10:00am-12:00 pm at Bugbee-Riggs Funeral Home, 1119 Long Beach Blvd, (corner of 12th and Blvd.), Ship Bottom, NJ 08008. In lieu of flowers, we ask for a donation to the Ship Bottom Volunteer Fire Department.
