Paul "Bud" Shonk, 86, of Massillon, Ohio passed away on June 15, 2023. Paul was born on December 14, 1936, in Massillon, Ohio to the late Paul and Thelma Shonk.
Paul retired in 1994 from Dominion Energy. Paul was an avid bow hunter who mentored many archers. He was a founding member of the Crystal Springs Bowhunter's Club. He was a girl's pitching coach for fast pitch softball at Tuslaw and St. Thomas Aquinas for many years. Paul was loved by all. He put smiles on many faces by waving to everyone during his morning walks on Beaumont Avenue. His greatest joy was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his sister and brother in-law, Trini (John) Fenton; and sister in-law Judy Shonk.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary L. (Ries) Shonk; children, Mark (Becky) Shonk, Kim (Tim) Ryan; grandchildren, Dan (Roberta) Shonk, Michael (Marissa) Shonk, Caitlyn (Dexter) Ponder and Rachelle (Marjorie) Ryan; brothers, Jack Shonk, Don (Rhona) Shonk and sister, Bev (Nick) Sich; nine great-grandchildren; and countless nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, June 23, 2023 and 10:00am to 11:00am on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home. His Funeral Ceremony will be held Saturday at 11:00 am at Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home with burial to follow at Newman Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Paul's memory to the Massillon Salvation Army. (315 6th St NE Massillon, OH 44646)
