Paul Edward Thompson, age 83 of Hillsboro, passed away on July 17, 2025, at his residence. He was born in Cowan on April 6, 1942, to the late Woodrow Thompson and Elsie Rackley. Paul first began working as the manager of the Winchester Bowling Alley. Paul loved getting together with his friends, camping with his family, and playing the guitar. He was a quiet, content man in his elderly years, but always still loved the time he spent sitting outside with his friends at Kingwood Arms. Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Elsie Thompson. He is survived by his two children, Russell (Tina) Thompson and Paula Thompson of Georgia; sister, Jean (Robert) Allan; grandchildren, Maverick Lars Thompson, Madasia Thompson of Hillsboro, Trent Thompson of Hillsboro, and Rachel Chandler of Hillsboro; great grandchildren, Gracelynn, Elijah, Elliot; niece, Barbara McGinty of Nashville; and nephew, John Allan of Estill Springs. A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 11am-1pm at St. Agnes' Episcopal Church in Cowan. Funeral Service will follow at 1pm on July 26, 2025, at St. Agnes' Episcopal Church in Cowan. Interment will take place after the service at Cowan Montgomery Cemetery. Paul was a good neighbor and a very kind and good man. I will miss him. I loved the time he asked me to come over and see his animals. He didn´t have a dog or cat but had several animals that wound up or would light up. Some even ran on batteries and would dance around the floor! He was so proud to show me his "animals"!
