Paul Michael "Mike" VanLeeuwen, 83, passed from this earth Saturday, October 5, 2024, in Topeka, Kansas. He was born October 30, 1940, in St. Paul, Kansas to Maxene and P.A. VanLeeuwen.
Paul graduated from St. Paul Highschool in 1960. He married the love of his life, Mary Ann Watters on June 25, 1966, at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Blue Rapids, Kansas. He and Mary Ann moved to Topeka, Kansas in 1969 where he began working for the City of Topeka in the Engineering Department, the same place he retired from in June of 2000. They later welcomed their precious daughter, Jennifer Ann, to this world.
Paul was a very active member at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. He participated in the choir, served on the church council, and was a member and Past Grand Knight of Council 4254. He volunteered his time to any part of the church that needed it, including maintenance. He also volunteered his time at the Hayden Catholic High School Pace Program.
Paul is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; daughter, Jennifer (Cody) Foster; grandchildren, Dylan and Ella Foster; sisters, Patricia Holland, Shirley Gray, Susan Coeme, Mary Lou Reeves; brother, John VanLeeuwen; and many nieces and nephews.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Steve VanLeeuwen.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 13, 2024, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614. Rosary to follow at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, October 14, at 10 a.m. at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 3601 SW 17th Street, Topeka KS 66604. Inurnment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church or Hayden Catholic High School in care of the funeral home.
