Paul Zocco, of Beverly, passed away at the VA Hospital in Bedford on Monday, January 29th. He was 92 years old. Born in Salem, he was the beloved husband to the late Dorothy M. (Fortin) Zocco. He was the son of the late Salvatore and Pearl (Teal) Zocco. Paul graduated President of his class from Salem Vocational High School with a focus on wood working.
After graduation, Paul served in the U.S. Army as a Corporal. His unit served in Nuremberg, Germany in the late 1950s. He became a lifelong friend with some of those he served with in the military.
Paul was a successful entrepreneur in the Millwork industry. Paul managed the wood millwork shop at Line Lumber in Danvers, MA. Later, he and his wife, Dorothy, started and successfully developed Georgetown Door & Window Company beginning in March of 1972, serving contractors and homeowners on the North Shore, Georgetown, Boxford and the Southern New Hampshire area. He enjoyed outdoor activities with his family and friends at the house he built in Limerick, Maine. He also enjoyed attending his son's hockey and baseball games and fishing in Beverly harbor.
In addition to being survived by his three sons; Paul J. Zocco and his wife, Patricia of Bradford; Philip J. Zocco of Georgetown; and Rick Zocco and his wife, Holly of Beverly; five grandchildren, Amanda L. and Paul J. Zocco both of Bradford; Allyson M. Zocco of Epping, NH; Rebecca L. Zocco of Georgetown; and Dylan Zocco of Beverly, and is also survived by his sister Josephine Chmiel and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Zocco and his son, Peter Zocco.
His funeral service will be at Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, on Saturday, February 3, at 10:30am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours prior to the service from 9:30 am to 10:30am. The burial will be at North Beverly Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Paul's memory to the Attn: David James Hospice Unit, Unit 2C, Bedford VA Hospital, 200 Springs Road, Bedford, MA 01730.
