Paula Sue Harpster, 74 passed away Saturday April 5, 2025 at Brethren Care after a six year battle with
Alzheimer's. She was born January 12, 1951 in Ashland the daughter of Paul and Maribelle McQuate
Boales. She was a lifetime Ashland County resident and graduated from Ashland High School in 1969,
where she was active in cheerleading and the National Honor Society among other clubs.
She married her high school sweetheart, Daniel Lee Harpster on May 23, 1970. Together they lived
their life on the farm. She was the bookkeeper for the farm for many years. She also worked at Dale-
Roy School for 25 years as a teaching assistant. She got great joy working with all the kids. Many
trips with the classes were spent going to the farm where the kids got the chance to ride horses, tractors,
4-wheelers, see animals, eat lunch and have a hayride to end the trip. It was at school where she met
her best friends, Mark and Susan. They became movie buffs and went to hundreds of movies together.
She also had a love for horses. For relaxing after work she would ride alone or with some of the
neighbor friends. They brought her much joy and happiness.
She spent many years taking the boys to all the sporting events they were involved in. She loved
watching all the baseball, football and softball games. She admitted it was nice when they got their
drivers license.
All the grandkids loved coming to the farm to spend time with Grandpa and Grandma where we often
watched movies, ate popcorn and had milkshakes (A Favorite).
In the later years when health was declining, Paula would spend days sitting on the dock at Noletti's
lake with Dan fishing and relaxing. You would also see her riding around the neighborhood with Dan
just to make sure everything was OK.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel Lee Harpster, three sons, Rick Daniel (Liz) Harpster of
Ashland, Andrew Shawn (Nancy) Harpster of North Canton and Michael Paul (Melinda) Harpster of
Jeromesville, seven grandchildren, Kaylee (Jeff) Thatcher, Macee (fiance` Kaleb Prasco) Harpster,
