“My soul delighteth in the song of the heart.”            - Doctrine & Covenants 25:12

Pearl Guymon Rawson

Pearl Guymon Rawson, age 89, of Salem, Idaho, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026, in Winnsboro, South Carolina, in the home of her daughter, Betty (William) Lacey.

Pearl was born November 1, 1936, in Milo, Idaho, to Louis Wayne Guymon and Zora Cook Guymon. She was born in the home her grandparents built—a humble two-room log cabin—surrounded by the beauty and simplicity of rural Idaho. Growing up on a farm in eastern Idaho, Pearl learned the values of hard work, faith, and family early in life. Her childhood was filled with caring for livestock, riding horses, gathering berries, and working alongside her parents and relatives—experiences that shaped the strong and resilient woman she became.

Pearl was baptized as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the age of nine. Her faith brought her peace throughout her life, and she was devoted to serving the Lord and those around her. She served faithfully in many church callings, including nursery, primary, and in the temple.

She attended school in Milo and later Rigby, Idaho, graduating from Rigby High School in 1955.

On March 22, 1958, Pearl married Charles Leslie “Chuck” Rawson in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Together they built a life centered on faith, hard work, and family, raising their children and creating a home filled with love and laughter.

Pearl was known as a hardworking, loving, and kind woman, and many remember her as a peacemaker who brought calm and understanding to those around her. Family was the center of her life, and she devoted herself to caring for her children and nurturing the relationships that meant so much to her. Each summer, she and her family hauled wood from the timber to prepare for the long Idaho winters, heating their home with a Home Comfort wood cook stove.

Music was another great joy in Pearl’s life. She and her husband, Chuck, loved performing together and spent many years entertaining at senior centers and nursing homes, bringing happiness to many through their music. They were well known in their community for yodeling, singing, and playing guitar and harmonica. Pearl was invited to sing “Cowboy Sweetheart” on the Tommy Cash Show, a special recognition of her musical talent. Together, Pearl and Chuck were also members of the Old Time Fiddlers and the Cowboy Poets of Idaho, where they shared their love of western music and storytelling.

Pearl was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Leslie Rawson; her parents, Louis Wayne Guymon and Zora Cook Guymon; her son, Darrel Rawson; her sisters, Yvonne, Vila, and Ruby; and her brother, Louis Guymon.

She is survived by her sister, Loretta (Dale) Miller of Idaho Falls, Idaho.

She is also survived by her children:

Steven (Wendy) Rawson, Roberts, Idaho; Dewayne Rawson, St. Anthony, Idaho; Kathy (Ed) Ours, Rexburg, Idaho; Karen (Jay) Rhymes, Fairbanks, Alaska; Jerry (Cyndi) Rawson, Lexington, South Carolina; and Betty (William) Lacey, Winnsboro, South Carolina.

Pearl leaves behind a large and loving posterity, including 27 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, some of whom have preceded her in death.

Whether through her music, her faith, or the quiet strength she carried throughout her life, Pearl left a lasting impression on all who knew and loved her.

Pearl’s life was defined by her devotion to her faith and her family. Her legacy of kindness, strength, music, and love will live on through her children, grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know her.

Her family finds comfort in knowing she has been joyfully reunited with her beloved husband, Chuck, and that the faith which guided her life has now carried her home.

Funeral will be held Monday March 23, 2026 at the Salem LDS church on the Salem RD. Funeral will be held at 12:00 noon, viewing will start at 11:00. Grave services will be at the Wilford Cemetery.
