Pedro Z. Limon, age 90 and one month, left us peacefully on Wednesday November 23, 2022, here in Austin, Tx. He was born on October 23, 1932, in Fentress, Tx. to Merced Zamarripa and Pedro G. Limon. After losing his mother at a very young age, Pedro was cared for and raised by his Uncle and Aunt - Rosendo and Rosa Zamarripa.
Pedro decided at a young age to serve his country, so at age 15 he had his uncle sign for him to join the National Guard. He served for 6 years as a Guardsman, then served for 20 years more as an Airman in the United States Air Force. He proudly served as a mechanic, keeping the aircraft and other vehicles in good working order. While still in service he earned his high school diploma and completed some college courses. After retirement as a Tech Sergent (TSGT) from the Air Force, he continued working for the public under the employment of the IRS. He retired from the IRS after 20 years as an Analyst.
Dad married his "honey" and neighbor, Orfalinda, in January 1959. They'd known each other well as they were growing up and had even "bothered/annoyed" each other during that time. When Mom turned 18, he asked for her hand. The wedding (scheduled for 10 a.m.) was a bit delayed due to Carswell AFB being on an alert, meaning Dad was not permitted to leave base until it was over. But they persisted and around 6 p.m. on January 31, 1959, Orfalinda Abeita and Pedro Z. Limon were married. This coming January would've been 64 years! They welcomed five daughters, Sylvia Ann, Rose Marie, Diana, Elizabeth Ann and Cynthia Marie. Unfortunately, Rose Marie passed at almost 10 months.
Dad always strived to work hard to provide for his family. He loved us all unconditionally. He loved to joke and kid around with people. There were a few times in the hospital where he'd say "ow" BEFORE the nurse would prick his finger to check his sugars. The nurse would be startled, and he'd giggle and say "just kidding". He would often let his young daughters and then his granddaughters put hair clips and bows in his hair. He was a great Husband, Daddy, Grandfather, Great-grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and an honorable man full of faith. He always told us "Te quiero mucho, mucho con todo mi corazón."
Pedro was preceded by Rose Marie (daughter), Alicia Ann Marie Puebla (granddaughter) and Eric Herrera (grandson). His brothers Benancio (Benny) and Gilbert Limon.
He is survived by his loving wife ("honey"), Orfalinda; daughters - Sylvia Limon, Diana Hardin (Christopher) of Austin, Tx; Elizabeth Limon-Cerna (Richard) of San Antonio, Tx, and Cynthia Limon-Pina of Austin, Tx.
Grandchildren - Dillon and Davis Votra; Stephanie, Christina, Ashley, Derek, Rosemarie, Gabriela and Jon-Michael Herrera; Elyssa Longoria; and Stephen and Brittany Puebla. Great-grandchildren - Isabella, Haven, Athena, Aubrey, Erica, Nathan, and Hailey.
Brothers - Oscar (Mary) and Arturo (Anna) Limon; sisters - Anita Montana (Joe), Consuelo Garcia, Umparo Rodriguez (Carlos), Avelina Garcia (Luis), and Zulema Tobias. Along with many nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank St David's Hospice Care team for all their help caring for Dad in his final days.
Dad, you are now one our angels - we will love and miss you from now on. Fly high and true. Te quiero mucho, mucho con todo mi corazón, por siempre!
