Pedro González López, 68, Shelbyville, died Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Baptist Health. A native of Nueva Santa Rosa, Guatemala, he was one of eight children of Celestino González Abrego and Margarita López Delcid. While in Guatemala, he served in the Guatemalan Air Force. After relocating to the United States, he was a self-employed automotive mechanic. In his leisure time, he enjoyed traveling. Swimming was one of his favorite activities, and he particularly enjoyed the beach. He was a member of Iglesia Aposento Alto in Shelbyville.
Two infant children, Zayda Janira González and Rosa Maria González, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Manuela González Osorio of Shelbyville; nine children, Pedro Antonio González of Guatemala, Julio Cesra González (Esperanza Flores González) of Louisville, Jorge Armando González (Sayra González) of Shelbyville, Zayra Yanett González (Aldo Zupin) of Guatemala, Jennifer Aicela González of Guatemala, Jonatan Alfonzo González of Quebec, Canada, Nancy Araceli González (Fernando Guzman) of Shelbyville, Blanca Estela González (Pablo Primero) of Shelbyville and Daniella González Osorio (Carlos Emanuel Gomez Bermudez) of Shelbyville; three siblings who live in the United States, Casimira Donis González, Miguel Angel González and Carlos Humberto González; 19 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m., Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Iglesia Aposento Alto with visitation after 5:30 p.m. Rev. Carlos Gomez will officiate. Burial will occur later at Campo santo aldea estansuelas cemetery in Santa Rosa, Jumiqepec, Guatemala.
