Peggy Jane Bitner, 87, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Doey's House.
Born Tuesday, July 6, 1937, in Beaver Creek, MD, she was the daughter of the late Albert Brenton Deatrich and the late Goldie Mae (Smith) Deatrich. She was preceded in death by her husband Warren Harding Bitner.
Peggy graduated from Boonsboro High School class of 1955, and spent her entire life in Washington County. Peggy greatest joy was raising her family and especially loved spending quality time with her grandchildren making all family gatherings extra special with her delicious southern meals. When asked recently what was the favorite part of her life, she responded " Everything".
She is survived by her daughters; Stephanie Rochelle Jones and husband Tom, Wendy JB Young; son, Gregory Scott Bitner and wife Lori; brothers, Bill Deatrich, George Deatrich; sister, Bonnie Gordon and husband Gary; grandchildren, Thomas Vogel, Kyle Vogel and wife Heather, Connor Young, Grant Bitner, Andrew Bitner and Owen Bitner, sister-in-law, Donna Deatrich and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Jack Deatrich and sister-in-law, Linda Deatrich.
Private services will be held with the family
Private Interment will be at the Mt. View Cemetery in Sharpsburg, MD.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD.
