Peggy R. Goodman was first and foremost, a fine Christian Lady. She was a lifelong member of Owl Hollow Church of Christ in Broadview and a shining example of "treat others as you wish to be treated". Peggy was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, co-worker and neighbor. She wore every hat there is was everything that anyone needed her to be and was loved and adored by all who knew her.
She was everyone's biggest fan, most steadfast confidant and a never-ending source of strength.
"Sunday Afternoons & Sweet Tea"
Family was what mattered most. She hosted Sunday dinner every week in her home. She loved to feed people..one of the many ways that she ministered to her family. Whether the day was spent watching football with a room full of boys, gathered on the patio for sweet tea and a chat, throwing cornhole in the driveway, games with the grandkids, riding on back of a 4-wheeler she was right in the middle of it. Sunday evenings were spent playing a very competitive game of ROOK with her favorite music playing in the background. She loved everything from Elvis to Merle Haggard The Gaithers to The Happy Goodmans (no relation)...and was very fond of THE EAGLES! Her favorite music and songs were those written by members of her family gathered around her dining room table. At "99" years young, she played her last game of ROOK on Christmas Day and never missed a beat!
Mama Peggy" or Mom Peg for sure loved chocolate, ice cream and flowers! Rarely did anyone come through her door without bearing a gift of some sort just to show their love and appreciation for all that she did for everyone.
She wasn't vain, but proud and particular. "Mama Peggy" loved shopping and beautiful clothes. She never left the house without her lipstick and the perfect outfit. She had a standing Friday afternoon appointment to "get her hair done" every week. Then there was a trip to the grocery store to prepare for her Sunday crowd!
Peggy loved to travel. Through the years, she visited many destinations in the states and abroad. She enjoyed browsing through photos and sharing memories of the people she met or those she traveled with. She literally never met a stanger.
One of the most memorable things about her was a head full of dark beautiful hair. No one could believe that she never dyed or colored it. (Well, once when she was 13 and she said "it turned it kind of blue" !!) She had started getting a little gray around the edges in the last few years. She just never seemed to age in body, mind or spirit. For her "99" was just the number of years that she was a tremendous blessing to all who knew her the best of everyone her family's greatest treasure.
Her sparkling, blue-green eyes were the windows to her warm and beautiful soul. She leaves a legacy of FAITH, FAMILY, MUSIC and LOVE.
In the last year, Peggy had begun experiencing a few health problems and she passed with heart complications.
She will be remembered, loved and cherished always by her family and friends.
