Peggy Joyce Harris, aged 84, departed from this life on Sunday, November 17, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Born on January 25, 1940, in Louisville, Kentucky, Peggy was the beloved daughter of the late James and Artie (Hibbs) Payton. She is reunited in spirit with her husband, Donald Harris, Sr., her son Gregory Harris, her grandchild David Cosby, and her dear sister Frances Collett.
Peggy's heart was filled with love for her family. She is survived by her devoted children: Jimmy (Patty) Cordy, Steve Cordy (Missy), Donna (Mike) Bryant, Don (Tina) Harris, Jr., and Catherine (Nate) Petty. Her grandchildren—Bobby (Katherine), Jeremy (Tara), Samantha (James), Michael, Ryan (Caitlyn), Rachel, Rebekah, Stylz, Ashley and Patricia—as well as her great-grandchildren—Abigail, Andrew, Annabell, Adelynn, JJ, Ryan, Dominick, Giovanni, Bo, and Bonnie—will forever carry her memory in their hearts. She also leaves behind her siblings Gloria Needy, James (Bobbie) Payton, Larry G. Payton, and James W. Payton Jr. in addition to numerous other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
Peggy was a devoted wife, loving mother, and doting grandmother. Her warmth, kindness, and spirit touched the lives of many, and she will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
A visitation to honor Peggy's life will be held on Monday, November 25th, from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, located at 10304 Dixie Hwy. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 PM at the funeral home, with burial to take place at Evergreen Cemetery.
