Peggy Ann Smith was born in Wilmot, Arkansas on November 4, 1940 to the late Hardy Pierce and Sue Yates Pierce. She passed away peacefully on the evening of September 30, 2025 at Lagniappe Healthcare in Bastrop, Louisiana. Along with her parents Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her husband, Ray Smith; husband and father of her children, Wesley McDonald; sister, Becky DeForest; infant brother, Junior Pierce; great grandson, C.J. Peggy was a devoted member of the First Church of God of Bastrop and a retired clerk with Morehouse General Hospital. She enjoyed serving, devoting many hours to helping numerous people in her community achieve their G.E.D. through the Adult Education Program, assisting many others with preparing their income taxes, and sharing her cooking and baking skills with family and friends with the many meals and dishes prepared with love. Most of all Peggy will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family. She held a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and the time spent and memories made with them.

Mrs. Peggy Smith is survived by her four children, Soraya Ward (L.W.)., Lisa McDonald, Theresa Priest, and Greg McDonald (Crystal). She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Corey Cooper (Jennifer), Jonathon Cooper (Amanda), Amber Wimbish (Brad), Nikki Stiner (Jeff), Derek Priest (Amber), Caleb McDonald (Chelsea), Austin McDonald (McKenzee), and Jarrett McDonald (Darbi); sixteen great-grandchildren, Blake Cooper (Allie), Roland Wilkerson (Mary), Brook Cooper, Carlie Mayberry (Melanie), Dawson Cooper (Morgan), Olivia Sage Cooper, Jayce Wimbish, Braiden Wimbish, Emery Wimbish, Payton Woods, David Stiner, Alexis Priest, Kaiden Priest, Gavin Priest, Wesley McDonald, and Hadlee McDonald; and four great-great-grandchildren, Evie Kate Cooper, John Barron Wilkerson, Everett Mayberry, and Ledger Mayberry.

The family wishes to send a special "thank-you" and appreciation to all the nurses and staff at Premier Hospice and Lagniappe Healthcare for their love, care, and attention shared with their mom.
