Penny Elaine Lanter-Wilds

Penny Elaine Lanter-Wilds departed from this world on August 20, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of laughter and warmth. Born on October 21, 1963, in Paris, Kentucky, she was an avid animal lover and a gift of joy to her family and friends, always brightening the room with her smile.

Penny's early years were marked by the joyous adventures of farm life with many stories to share of her brother and cousins, a chapter filled with memories that remained with her always. Her family, a cornerstone of her existence, will carry forward her memory with love and adoration. She was a devoted daughter to her mother, Linda Mattingly, a sister to John (Sherry) Lanter, and an affectionate aunt to her nephews, Andrew Lanter and Nick (Victoria) Lanter, and her nieces, Eden Faye Lanter, Elle Lucille Lanter, and Aubrey Lee King as well as several others. Her family treasured her fun-loving spirit, and she, in turn, found immense joy in watching her young nieces and nephews grow. In addition to that love, Penny made lasting friendships including that of her special friend, Courtney Osborne.

She now joins her beloved father, John Douglas Lanter, her cherished grandparents, Leon and Anna Ruth Florence, and her beloved husband, Charlie Wilds, in eternal rest, where love remains eternal while those she leaves behind will forever be grateful for the time shared with her.

An avid angler, Penny found peace by the water's edge, fishing rod in hand, beneath the blue Kentucky sky. Her artistic talents were also a part of her identity; with her hands skillfully creating arts and crafts that were not only beautiful but often served as tokens of love and affection.

Penny will be deeply missed and remembered by all of her loved ones, and those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with such a compassionate soul. She has left us too soon, but her legacy will continue to live within us. Penny Elaine Lanter-Wilds will be held in our hearts and memories throughout eternity.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM Monday August 25, 2025, at the Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home Chapel, 1120 Main St., Paris, KY by Bro. Jonathan Graves. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM Monday August 25, 2025, until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to PAWS (Paris Animal Welfare Shelter) 6 Legion Dr., Paris, KY 40361, in lieu of flowers or gifts.
