Perry Booth (Junior), age 96, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Timberlane Health and Rehab in El Dorado, AR
He was born September 22, 1927, in Parkdale, AR. He was the oldest son of Perry D. Booth and Verdell Ozment Booth. He was raised in Crossett, AR, where he later met Barbara Jean Taylor and married her in 1950. They moved to El Dorado, AR in the early 50’s. In 1958 he began his (31 year) cross-country truck driving career with Wheeling Pipeline, which later became Miller Transport. After retirement in 1989, Perry and Barbara moved to their new home on Lake Claiborne in Homer, LA. They made many friends in Homer and Perry was a greeter at First Baptist Church of Homer. He also worked part-time for Rose-Neath Funeral Home.
After 26 years of wonderful retirement life, they moved back to El Dorado to be close to family and rejoined East Main Baptist Church where they had been members for many years before retirement.
Perry was preceded in death by his parents; his precious wife, Barbara Taylor Booth; two brothers, Sonny Booth and Cecil Booth; and two sisters, Beatrice Johnson and Ouida Wolfe.
Survivors include: son - Larry Booth (Annette Harrell Booth) of El Dorado, daughter – Donna Booth Pumphrey (Richard Pumphrey) of El Dorado, granddaughters – Amanda Booth of El Dorado, Melissa Pumphrey Cary (Jeremy) of Benton, LA, great grandchildren – Tori Booth, Kendall Dykes, Taylor Cary, Audrey Cary, great-great granddaughter – Kaisleigh Lamay, sister – Jean Elliot (Jerry), many nephews and nieces and special nephew Jerry Hawkins.
Funeral Services will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 405 East 5th Street, Homer, LA on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 2:00, p.m., officiated by Brother Brian Thurman. Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery, Homer, LA. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer, LA.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Whitton, Russell Langley, Johnny Coffee, Britt Synco, and Michael Allen.
Perry’s family would like to express their gratitude to Timberlane Health and Rehab staff for the care and compassion given him.
Memorials may be made to Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607-3000, or donor’s choice.
