Peter D. Calac

Peter D. Calac, 82, of Canton, OH passed away on March 4th, 2024 after a five year battle with dementia. Born in Canton, OH on March 29, 1941, Pete attended and graduated from Timken High School before serving his country in the US Navy during the Cold War. Following his safe return back home, Pete followed in his fathers footsteps and continued his acts of service, serving as a Police Officer for the City of Canton for more than 29 years.
Pete attended and received two associate degrees from Stark Technical College in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice. In addition to being a policeman he owned and operated a parking lot striping business for more than 30 years, Calac Lot Marking.
The most joy that Pete got at the end of his life was from his dog, Nala. Pete passed peacefully surrounded by his family and loved ones and fought all the way till the end of his earthly life.
Pete will be remembered for his laugh, sense of humor, his proud Native American heritage, his love for his family and willingness to always take care of those around him. His wife would say his four passions in life were family, fishing at Meyers Lake Sportsman Club, hunting, and playing poker.
Pete is preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Ruth Calac; and two siblings: Joan Tucker and Marilyn Shank. Pete's memory will live on through his devoted wife and life partner of 57 years, Millie Calac; his two children, Christina Calac and Peter R. Calac; his grandson, Peter J. Calac; his granddaughter's, Jaidynn Calac, Sydney Calac and Riley Calac; and his step-grandson, Anthony Covert.
Calling hours and a celebration of his life will be held Wednesday, March 13th at Schneeberger-Oser Funeral Home with an FOP Honorary Service at 4:45pm followed by calling hours from5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Peter had the utmost respect for his Tribal Lineage in the Rincon Band of Luiseño Indians. A tribal ceremony will take place at 6:00pm during the calling hours.
Final interment will be at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery with full Military Honors on Thursday - March 14, 2024 at 2:45pm. Attendees are encouraged to arrive at the cemetery no less that 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start of service.
