Peter Rockefeller Carpenter
86, of Scottsdale, Arizona passed away on December 30th, 2025, with his children by his side. Pete was born and raised in Sunbury, PA to Alvin Witmer Carpenter and Katharine Rockefeller Carpenter, and was the younger brother of Derr and John, each preceding him in death. Pete attended Sunbury High School, Mercersburg Academy and Pennsylvania State University where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1962. Following graduation, he served for 4 years in the US Naval Air Force, including a tour in southern Florida during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Following his military service, Pete enjoyed a 35-year career in the insurance and financial services sectors, earning the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award for his leadership and contributions in his field, and most recently serving as a Vice President with Wells Fargo Private Client services.
On August 24th, 1963, Pete married Janet Buck (deceased in 2011) and had three children: Karen, Jean, and Peter. He is survived by his children and seven grandchildren. Pete was a champion of civic involvement, serving his community in a number of roles including Lieutenant Governor & President of Kiwanis International (McCormick Ranch), 32nd degree Mason of the Ancient York Scottish Rite, Chairman of Gompers Rehabilitation Center, Arizona Alumni Director for Penn State University, and council member for Ascension Lutheran and Christ the Lord Lutheran churches. He was also an active member with local organizations including the Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce, Valley of the Sun United Way, Boys & Girls Club of Greater Scottsdale, and the Maricopa County Sheriff's volunteer posse.
If you met Pete for even a few minutes, you knew you were friends and you were important to him.

Friday, February 6th, 11:00am at La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church, 6300 E Bell Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85254.
