Peter Fonda Jr.
May 16, 1949 – July 30, 2025
Peter Fonda Jr. passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on May 16, 1949, in Manhattan, New York, Peter was the son of the late Peter Fonda Sr. and Elvira DelPonte Fonda. He was also predeceased by his sister, Lucille Black.
Peter's family moved to Mine Hill, New Jersey, when he was in third grade. He graduated from Dover High School in 1967 and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force beginning in 1969, receiving an honorable discharge.
A skilled carpenter, talented musician, and passionate gun enthusiast, Peter had a knack for helping others and was always willing to lend a hand with odd jobs or home repairs. He was deeply involved with Teen Challenge, a Christian-based program supporting individuals battling addiction and other life-controlling issues-a mission that was close to his heart.
Throughout his life, Peter held a variety of jobs but found his home with the Dover Town Public Works Department, where he worked until his retirement at the age of 62.
Faith was central to Peter's life. A devout Christian, he was a longtime member of several churches, most notably Rockaway Assembly of God in Rockaway, NJ.
Peter is survived by his two daughters: Jessica Familia and her husband Joel, and Lisa Fonda Klutkowski and her husband Tyler. Though Peter was sadly too ill to attend Lisa and Tyler's recent wedding, he held them close in heart. He is also lovingly remembered by his granddaughter, Luna Jade.
Peter was married and divorced three times throughout his life, and through all its ups and downs, he remained a man of deep faith and enduring kindness.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, August 18, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Rockaway Assembly of God, 113 East Main Street, Rockaway, NJ 07866. Family and friends are invited to stop by and share memories, stories, and reflections in his honor.
