Peter P. Forte, 92, of
Avon, CT, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 6, 2026. He was born on May 5, 1933, in
Hartford, CT, the son of the late Pasquale Forte and Constance (D'Addario) DeMauro.
Peter was a graduate of Bulkeley High School, Class of 1951, and the University of Hartford, Class of 1961, where he earned a degree in Business Administration. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1953–1955 and was stationed in Japan as a Non-Commissioned Officer (Corporal), responsible for the Troop Information Center of the 8162nd Army Hospital Unit.
Over the years, Peter worked for Putnam & Co., Royal Typewriter, and Pratt & Whitney, where he retired in 1998. He lived a quiet, independent life and was known for enjoying life's simple pleasures. He loved taking walks in Farmington Woods, where he lived, and going for drives simply to appreciate beautiful scenery. Many afternoons were spent at his favorite local restaurants, where he enjoyed good food and friendly conversation. In his earlier years, he also loved bowling, swimming, and spending summers at his parents' cottage in
Westbrook, CT.
Peter will be remembered for his independence, his appreciation for simple routines, and the many small moments shared with those who knew him.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews. In his later six years, he was especially grateful for the love, support, devotion, and care provided by his nephew George D'Addario Jr. and his wife, Maria.
Peter was predeceased by his sisters Mary Peters, Anne Freedman, and Lucy White, and by his brothers Albert and George D'Addario.
The family extends their deepest appreciation to the wonderful nurses, caregivers, and staff at Shady Oaks in Bristol, CT, for the extraordinary compassion and care they showed him. It was truly a special community-his loving home-where he thrived, was genuinely loved, and formed treasured friendships, especially with Michael and Bill, whom we hold dearly in our hearts. You were more than friends; you were a true family, and we will be forever grateful.
Special thanks to Tyson Belanger, the owner of Shady Oaks, who was the most wonderful "roommate" Pete could have ever asked for. Your patience and compassion will never be forgotten.
Heartfelt thanks to RNs Nicki, Suzanne, and Laurie-our angels on earth. To Lissy and Sabrina, Peter's devoted caregivers, thank you for bringing joy to his days. To Tammy, his Bristol Hospice aide, thank you for your loving care. We are also grateful for his Elara visiting nurses, Meghan and Brianna, who began his journey of loving care. Lastly, our sincere appreciation to Amy Lombardo, APRN, for your compassion in Peters prior years.
