Peter Genis Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 14, 2024.
Peter Vsevolod Genis passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at the age of 17, from a tragic vehicle collision. Born on November 21, 2006, in Tokyo, Japan, Peter was raised between Japan and Minnesota, alongside his loving family: his mother, Karen Chang; his father, Seva Genis; and his two older sisters, Sacha and Elizabeth Genis, who adored their baby brother.
Peter was a bright and spirited young man-an exceptional student, a loyal best friend, a caring boyfriend, a devoted son, and a cherished brother. Known for his infectious smile and a laugh that could light up any room, Peter had a way of making personal connections wherever he went. His kind heart and genuine care for others left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Peter excelled both academically and socially. He was an admired member of the National Honor Society at Burnsville High School and earlier was actively involved in the boxing club and badminton, where he volunteered his time. Outside of school, his passion for cars led him to find and become an active part of the local car community.
He found his communities through the passions that gave his life meaning-whether it was cars, where he dreamed of starting an import/export business with his best friend, or fashion, where he expressed his personality by thrifting unique pieces. His love for motorcycles was another lifelong dream that he finally fulfilled, never missing a chance to share his enthusiasm for riding.
During the summer of 2024, he went to Japan with his sister Elizabeth to visit his dad. He was able to spend time with both of them through long drives to the beaches and eating 7-Eleven delicacies in the park. He also discovered a motorcycle community in Japan where he made new friends by sharing his stories. He had such an ability to make meaningful relationships anywhere he went.
Peter shared a deep bond with his family, especially his mother, with whom he explored new restaurants and tried different dishes-a joy they both treasured. He had plans to move to the Northeast, following in the footsteps of his sister, Sacha, to study in the STEM field, continuing to pursue his passion for all things automotive.
He will be remembered not only for his passions and accomplishments but also for the joy, kindness, and warmth he brought into the lives of everyone who knew him.
In respect to his wishes, his body will be cremated, and ashes spread in his favorite places. The support from every peer, friend, teacher, family member, community, and organization have been greatly appreciated. The funds raised through donations provided such support beyond expectation.
Thank you all for honoring Peter's life; the beauty of his memory will remain forever.
