Peter Arthur Jensen of Wabeno took God's hand on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, he was at home surrounded by his family. Pete did all he could do to fight the evil disease of cancer. He walked on his treadmill daily and took extraordinary measure to fight. He was 83 years old.
He was born on January 22, 1941, to the late Carl and Ruth (Wiltschire) Jensen. He was one of 13 children. He graduated from Wausaukee High School and was voted "Most Athletic" in his class. Following high school, he honorably served in the United States Army. In 1964 Pete married the love of his life, Jean Vanderhyden. Pete & Jean had three children, Jill Matt and Tom. They were known to have good times and shenanigans with great friends and family. After losing his wife Jean at a young age Pete later married Mary Vanderhyden Phillips. He gained three stepsons Mark, Scott and Jeff. Pete and Mary were married for 35 years. After Mary's passing Pete found love and happiness again. On August 20th, 2023, he married Barbara Mattern. Pete and Barbara were smitten and enjoyed every waking moment together. Adding to his family is Barbara's daughter Kimberlee. Pete & Barb spent wonderful times with their good friends, Jim and Carol Eernisse
Pete's lifelong career was a professional Logger. This title is held by few and is not freely given and not easily earned. Pete's career of logging started with horses and ended up with operating the high-tech equipment of today. He partnered with his best friend (son) Matt Jensen in 1985.
Pete was a lifelong outdoorsman. He took countless hunting trips with son Matt and son- in- law Eric. Pete enjoyed fishing trips to Cass Lake, MN with fishing partners brother-in-law Gene Piontek, then later nephew Mitch Piontek and Dan Edlebeck, along with countless Wabeno area friends. He took pride in taking most of his grandchildren hunting and fishing. Pete's kids, grandkids and great grand kids were his pride and joy. He seldomly missed a Green Bay Packer game on TV. Playing baseball and basketball in his younger days and bowled for 30 plus years. A brisk walk was the way he liked to start his day. Pete was close with the Lord, reading his bible daily.
Recently, he dedicated countless hours of labor working on the new addition to Bethel Baptist Church. He was a kind, gentleman willing to help whoever called upon him. Never did you see Pete without a smile on his face and welcomed a good conversation.
