Peter Harry Menounos, Jr., age 84, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023 after a brief hospital stay at Wentworth Douglas Hospital.
Peter was born on March 16, 1939 in Dover, New Hampshire and was the son of Margaret Menounos and Peter H. Menounos, Sr., both from Dover. He graduated from Dover High School in 1957 and attended Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. From 1961- 1965 he served in the United States Air Force. He and his wife Kathy were married in 1964 and had three sons. Peter worked as a quality control engineer at General Electric in Somersworth, New Hampshire for 40 years. At that time, all GE electric meters were made in the Somersworth plant.
Peter's hobbies were diverse, including gardening, bike riding, and playing cards and cribbage. He loved talking to people and he loved a bargain. Peter traveled to Akovos, Greece in 1999 to connect with family in the old country. Later in life he greatly enjoyed golf and golf equipment maintenance and repair, working at York Golf & Tennis. He was a member of St Mary's Catholic Church of Dover.
For more than ten years, he and Kathy spent time in sunny Sarasota, Florida, where they met many friendly retirees from other cold-weather states. They would drive down every winter with two miniature schnauzers in tow.
Peter was predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Kathleen Anne Menounos. He is survived by his sister Mary (Fuzzy) Kemen and her family of York, Maine; sons Gregory Charles Menounos, Christopher Peter Menounos, and Brian Peter Menounos; and grandchildren Nathan Peter Menounos, Orrin Timothy Menounos, and Martha Anne Menounos.
