Peter A. O’Donnell Jr.

Peter Andrew O'Donnell Jr., 64, of Clifton, New Jersey, passed away on January 29, 2026.

Peter was a devoted father, a gifted musician, and a larger-than-life presence whose warmth, humor, and generosity touched everyone who knew him. His laughter filled every room, and his magnetic personality made him impossible to miss.

Born in The City, Peter was the son of the late Peter Andrew O'Donnell Sr. and Elizabeth "Betty" Katherine O'Donnell, 87, of Leisure Village, NJ. He grew up in a close-knit family and graduated from Clifton High School, where he first began to develop the creativity and craftsmanship that would define his life.

A master carpenter by trade, Peter was a proud member of the New York City Carpenters Union. Beyond his professional work, he was a builder at heart-always at the center of family projects, from treehouses for his children to home additions for his parents and siblings. His hands shaped wood, but his generosity shaped the lives of those around him. If someone needed help, Peter showed up.

Peter's musical journey began in childhood, when he first picked up the accordion. It became the foundation of his musical ear, and he often entertained extended family at gatherings with a natural ease and joy. Before long, he discovered his true love-the guitar. With it, he became a virtuoso, known throughout the region for his talent, passion, and unmistakable sound. Music wasn't just something he played; it was something he lived. His legacy endures in the many songs and compositions he shared with the world.

His greatest joy, however, was his son, Peter Andrew O'Donnell III, with whom he shared a deep bond and a love of music that connected them in a way few fathers and sons ever experience.

Peter is survived by his son, Peter Andrew O'Donnell III; his mother, Elizabeth "Betty" O'Donnell; and his siblings Theresa Mazzarisi (Rich), Carolyn Scoppettuolo (Ron), Daniel O'Donnell (Suzanne), Stephen O'Donnell (Pauline), Sean O'Donnell (Donna) and Beth Fricke (Jared). He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, Peter Andrew O'Donnell Sr. in 2017.

Visiting hours will be held at Allwood Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00PM with a Eulogy at 6PM. Funeral services will take place at Allwood Funeral Home on Saturday at 10:30AM followed by burial at Cresthaven Memorial Park.
