Peter J. Scavetta, age 93, U.S. Marine Corps veteran, a resident of Naperville, IL, formerly of Brooklyn, NY and Howard Beach, NY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Tabor Hills Healthcare Facility in Naperville. He was born on April 21, 1931, in Brooklyn.
Beloved husband of the late Frances M. Scavetta (nee Bonura), whom he married on February 1, 1958 and who preceded him in death on July 17, 2017, loving father of Peter (Jennifer) Scavetta of Naperville, IL and Lori (Christopher) Scavetta-Casey of Howard Beach, NY, adored grandfather of Peter IV and Jacqueline Scavetta, devoted son of the late Peter, Sr. and Gladys Scavetta, dear brother of the late Ruth (the late Fred) Fernandes and the late Lawrence "Larry" Scavetta, fond uncle of many, including John and Joanie Fernandes, Justine Silvestri and Lenny Giambald, great-uncle and friend to many.
Peter was a proud Teamster and worked as a truck driver in the garment industry in New York City for many years. He had a second career later in life in his many different roles at the Queens County District Attorney's Office in New York City.
Peter enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his two grandchildren, watching westerns and football, fixing his car, and eating dessert!
Visitation will be held Friday, May 24, 3:00-5:00 PM and 7:00-9:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, IL 60540.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 25, 2024, 10:00 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Community, 2003 Hassert Blvd. (corner of 111th St. & Book Rd.), Naperville, IL 60564.
Interment to follow at Wheatland Township Cemetery, 22545 W. 104th St., IL, 60564.
