Phoenix, AZ: We are heartbroken to announce Peter passed away July 28, 2022 at his home in Phoenix, Arizona. Peter lost his long battle with Multiple Sclerosis and other related complications. Upon diagnosis more than 20 years ago, his neurologist's wise words of advice were "Live your Life." By way of courage and determination, Peter was able to live a very active life.
Peter was predeceased by his father, Peter M. Tolliver, Sr., and his treasured family dog, Buttons He survived by his wife, Pamela, Phoenix Arizona, his siblings, David, New York City, Carol Darwick (Edward), Mesa Arizona, Nephews, Nicholas Tolliver, Minneapolis, Minnesota Evan Darwick, Mesa, Arizona, Niece, Deborah Whitaker, Nashville, Tennessee.
Peter was born in Aberdeen, Maryland at the United States Army Aberdeen Proving Ground, August 28, 1955. The family moved to Rochester in 1956. Peter attended Brighton schools, graduating Brighton High School in 1973. He enrolled at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona for college and graduated with a major in Physical Education & Health. For a number of years, in his spare time, he served as a high school and community college basketball referee in the Phoenix area. Peter fashioned a 30 year career in operations management at various national grocery stores in the Phoenix area.
Peter was an avid biker beginning with two motorcycle round trips from Arizona to Rochester. Switching to road bikes, MS did not deter him from wide range biking explorations of the Phoenix Valley mountains. From his early years, summer visits to the Adirondacks plus later hikes and camping in Baxter State Park in Maine attracted him to mountain explorations. His favorite Rochester area ride was on the curvy hills leading into Naples with Canandaigua Lake in view.

I was very sorry to learn about Peter. My family lived at 405 Oakdale Dr and I was very happy to learn that the Tolliver family was moving in around the corner on Varina Dr. I was very proud of my parents and other neighbors who helped ensure that the Tollivers would be able to buy the house in what was then, and I think still is, an almost all white neighborhood. I also admire the family for having what seems must have been a lot of courage to move into our neighborhood at that time.

I´m so sorry to hear about your loss, it has broken my heart to hear the sad news about a good friend of mine. I just happened to look him up to see if he was still living in Phoenix. I saw his picture and it said he had passed away,I couldn´t stop crying and I´m still crying. I will miss you my friend. I Love you! , your friend, Larry.
