Peter Regan Wetherell, 66, of Columbus, GA died Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at his residence.
Peter was born March 27, 1958 in Utica, NY, the son of the late Sterling A. Wetherell and Anne Regan Wetherell. "Pete" grew up in different parts of the world as the youngest child in a military family. After graduating from Pacelli High School in Columbus,GA, he attended and graduated from Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC with a B.A. in History. He played football in HS and College. He was an ROTC officer at Presbyterian and joined the US Army after graduation as a 1st LT. He left the Army as a Captain in Field Artillery. Pete then returned to school, became an RN and finished his career at Gulf Breeze Hospital in Gulf Breeze, FLA. Pete loved history, sports, music, books, and his family. He was so very proud of his nieces and nephews and always interested in their endeavors and families.
Survivors include his sister Sue Hicks of Astoria,OR, and brothers Robert Wetherell(Karen) of Midland, GA, and Thomas Wetherell (Donna) of Seneca,SC; seven nieces and nephews (Jason,Megan,Kathleen, Jeff, Mallory, Ryan, Daniel) and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Donations in memory of Pete may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital through St.Jude.org.
