Philip Bollman Obituary

Of Venetia, PA passed away peacefully on Friday, August 15, 2025. Phil was born in Bath PA on March 19, 1938. He was the son of Philip D. Bollman and Loretta McFetridge Bollman. Phil's childhood was all about sports; he played baseball and football at Northampton HS. His skills in baseball earned him a full scholarship to Lafayette College, where he graduated in 1960 with a business degree.

Phil had 3 passions; the first and most important to him was his family. He loved being with his 3 kids, their spouses, his 9 grandchildren and his 9 great-grandchildren. He rarely missed a game, event or recital for any of his children or grandchildren. He was the most enthusiastic sideline spectator, cheering on his family.

But his greatest family love was for his wife of 67 years, Bernice Hilberg Bollman of Northampton, PA. Phil and Bernice were high school sweethearts and married when he was in college. She was truly the love of his life.

His second passion was for the business he founded in 1980, Chemco Systems, L.P. He cared deeply for his employees and provided extra support and aid for anyone who needed it. He led the company until 2023 when he sold it to 3 grandsons.

His third passion was for sports; he followed and cheered on the Steelers and Pirates religiously since moving to Pittsburgh in 1966. He became a fan of Pitt sports, especially basketball and women's volleyball. He loved hunting, and he played baseball, softball, paddle tennis and golf during his life. He was scuba diving into his 70s.

He was a religious man; church and faith meant a great deal to him and he gave generously to many deserving causes.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice Bollman; his children, Wendy (Mark) Kennedy, Susan (Phil) Duvall, James (Jennifer) Bollman, 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Louise Bollman Kinter from Northampton, PA. Burial will be private and a Memorial Service is planned for 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 19 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Upper St. Clair, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to in memory of Phil Bollman to Brother's Brother Foundation 1200 Galveston Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15233 or through this link: https://brothersbrother.org/donate

My deepest condolences and prayers to the Bollman family. I worked for Phil at Chemco for 20 years. Phil was a family man first . I can say Phil never once walked by me without stopping and asking how I was doing and how my family was doing . It was truly a honor and blessing to have worked for Phil and his wife Bernice. GODS peace with you all.
