Philip A. Rametta, 64, of Herrin passed away at 2:19 a.m., Monday, May 6, 2024 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Philip was born September 24, 1959 in St. Louis to Andy Rametta and Sherry Harkins. He married the love his life, Karen Samples on May 22, 1998 in Marion.
Philip was a veteran of the United States Army and was honorably discharged. Philip worked as a logger and tree trimer. He also owned his own landscaping business while living in Arkansas. Philip attended the Marion Apostolic Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, singing and playing his guitar.
Philip is survived by his loving wife, Karen Rametta; five children, Tiffany Elam; Felicia (Matt) Helton-Boyd, Christina (Freddie) Davis and Timothy (Amy) Samples, Ashlely Treat; seventeen grandchildren, two great-granchildren; sixteen siblings, Angela (Kevin) Stacks, Andy Roy (Amber) Rametta, Tony (Nicole) Rametta, Adam (Lisa) Rametta, Annette Gaddis, Alan (Rebecca) Rametta, Andrea Rametta, Jack P. Androff, Susan (Chuck) Lawson, Javan Androff, Michelle Androff, Buddy (Tiffany) Graham, Robin (Mary) Hood, Ellen Hood, Gary Hood and James Hood; bonus mom, Norma Androff; two special aunts, Shirley Riley and Joyce Merz. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and several special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; dad, Jack Androff, sister, Annabeth Rametta and grandson, Philip Wright.
Celebration of life service will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Cassie Steinsultz officiating. Military honor will be accorded by the Marion VFW Post 1301 and American Legion Post 147 along with members of the Illinois National Guard Military Honors Funeral Ritual Team.
Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association Illinois Chapter. Envelopes will be available at Pyle Funeral Home the day of the service.
