Williamsport, MD – Philip Allen "Scottie" Teach, 74, of
Williamsport, MD passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC surrounded by his loving family. Scottie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
He was born on December 28, 1950, in Hagerstown, MD to the late Philip Lee Teach and Pearl Lorraine Williamson Smith.
Scottie was a 1968 graduate of Williamsport High School.
He was drafted in the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, Vietnam Service Medal with the Bronze Service Star, and the Army Commendation Medal. Scottie volunteered with the
Disabled American Veterans and took them to appointments and even took them water skiing.
He was previously employed by Roadway Express as a yard jockey and was most recently employed by Mack Truck Hagerstown, MD until his retirement.
He was a member of Downsville Christian Church Downsville, MD.
Scottie has been a member of Potomac Fish & Game Club since 1980 and was a past member of the Board of Directors, volunteered with security, and served on the dock committee with his dad for many years. He taught many people to barefoot and water ski. He was a true River Rat.
He was also a member of Potomac Post #202 American Legion

He is survived by his wife, Roberta Jean "Berta" (McElfish) Teach whom he married on March 18, 1995; daughter Elizabeth Ann Brant and her husband Todd of Clear Spring, MD; daughter Jessica Irene Mowbray and her husband Scott of
Williamsport, MD; son Benajmin Scott Teach and his wife Sarah of Athens, GA; stepdaughter Melissa Mae Miller and her husband Clark of Greencastle, PA; stepson Shad Linwood Hamilton of Hagerstown, MD; sister Patricia Ann Shank and her husband Greg of
Williamsport, MD; half-brother Doug Delauter of
Williamsport, MD; grandchildren Zak Keller (Hallie), Jared Brant (Erin), Jacob Brant, Michael Keller, Wyatt Harnish(Abby), Maggie Keller (D'Andre), Turner Teach, Brent Mowbray, and Lindsey Aaron (Ryan); great grandchildren Harper Brant, Saylor Brant, Jax Brant, Rhett Aaron, and Boone Aaron; niece Velvet Shirley of Downsville, MD.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his stepmother Thelma Delauter; sister-in-law MaryeRita Zombro; daughter-in-law Jennifer Hamilton.
A memorial service will be held at Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St.
Williamsport, MD on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 6:00 pm. Military services will be provided by Clopper-Michael Post #10 American Legion Boonsboro, MD. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 22, 2025 from 1:00 - 3:00 pm and immediately following the memorial service till 9:00 pm. The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Friday for the convenience of family and friends.
