Fitchburg – Philippe G. LeBlanc, 91, of Fitchburg, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2025 surrounded by his loving family, after a short stay at the LifeCare Center of Leominster.
Philippe was born in Barachois, New Brunswick, Canada on September 6, 1933, a son of the late George and Lucie (Leger) LeBlanc. At the age of nine, Philippe and his family moved to the United States and in 1954 Philippe enlisted in the US Army, where he proudly served his country during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he remained in service with the US Air Force reserves until 1963. Upon returning home he began his career working for the former Weyerhaeuser, James River Paper Company as a Machine Operator until his retirement.
Philippe, always a hard worker, rebuilt his entire home with his exceptional carpentry skills. He would often be found working around the house and the yard; he had a love of the outdoors, especially hunting. He always enjoyed visits back home to Canada, spending time with his children and family. Philippe, a lover of all animals, gave many pets a good home throughout the years. A devout Catholic, Philippe was a parishioner of Saint Joseph Church in Fitchburg.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Florida (Caissie) LeBlanc of Fitchburg; children, Lucy Caron and husband Donald of Fitchburg, Donald LeBlanc and wife Debbie of Fitchburg, George LeBlanc of Fitchburg, James LeBlanc and wife Nancy of Spokane, WA, and Yvonne Persson and husband Mark of Royalston; grandchildren, Sarah and Kimmie LeBlanc, Tanya, Ashley, Michael, and Melissa Persson, and Amy Caron; two great-grandchildren, Carter and Kinsley; siblings, Rita Bedard of Westminster and Juliette Bolduc of Fitchburg.
Philippe was predeceased by his siblings, Auguste LeBlanc, Anna Goguen, Laura Bedard, and Alice Tremblay.
Funeral services and burial in the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery will be held privately.
