Phillip Alvarez Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 2, 2025.

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother and uncle, Phillip Anthony Alvarez, 30, of George West, Texas on December 31, 2024.

Anthony was born October 26, 1994, in Corpus Christi to Leonel Benino Alvarez and Sylvia (Cortez) Alvarez. He was a cherished member of our family, known for his selfless acts of kindness, humor, and daring spirit. Phillip had a great passion and talent for drawing and sketching and loved to dance, play music, and of course, he loved to laugh. He would take the shirt off his back and give it to a stranger (he actually did one time).

Anthony was a simple man. He knew the true blessings of life were not monetary but were within family and relationships and wanted nothing more than to be around those he loved and those who loved him. He encouraged his family to spend time together and appreciate one another, because he knew what life was like not to have it. Anthony will never be forgotten, and his family takes comfort in knowing he is no longer suffering.

He leaves behind a family who will mourn deeply for his loss which includes his mother, Sylvia Cortez; father, Leonel Alvarez; sister, Kristina Alvarez; nephew, Landon Williams; stepmom, Julie Cantu; stepdad, Bernard De Los Santos; grandparents, Luis and Maria Cortez and Martha Garcia and Leonel Alvarez, Sr.; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday, January 5, at St. George Catholic Church with a Rosary to be recited at 5 o’clock.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated there at 10 a.m. Monday, January 6, with Father Romeo Salinas officiating. Burial will follow in the George West Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Caleb Davis, Bryan Chesser, Julian Cortez, Christian Cortez, Aidan Garza, Joseph Feist, Kaden Cortez and Joey Lee Garza.

Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Avery Cortez.
