Phillip "Phil" Dee Jordan, 80, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025 at Hines Veterans Hospice Center.

Phil was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, father-in-law, brother-in-law, alderman and friend. He was deeply loved by all that knew him. Phil is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Cathy, his children, Daniel and Christy, his cherished grandchildren Christian and London, loving daughter-in-law Rachel, step-brother Alan and step-sister, Martha. Phil was preceded in death by his parents Magda and Alan Jordan and his sister Karen.

Phil was born in Chicago and served in the U.S.Army from 1964 to 1966. In 1966 Phil and Cathy were married and in 1972 they moved to Elmhurst when Phil needed to relocate to a central location because of his job with Illinois Bell.

Phil had a deep love of family and community. Phil had a great sense of humor, loved to golf, fish, hunt, collect tools, loved animals and enjoyed helping others. Phil coached soccer, baseball and hockey, was a past Jaycees Director, Youth Mentor at Bryan Middle School, helped at Visitations parish picnics and at Lincoln School Chaired the Haunted House at the school Carnivals. He also participated in Airband at Bryan Middle School and Far from Broadway plays at Visitation Church.

Phil's love of community and desire to help others led him to be elected 5th Ward Alderman from 1991 to 2007,16 years. He served on Public Affairs and Safety Committee, 14 years, Development, Planning and Zoning Committee, 2 years, Ex Officio for the Youth Commission, 2 years, Veterans Commission Treasurer, for 16 years. He also served on the City Hall Building Planning Committee. After he retired from being the Fifth Ward Alderman he served on the Police and Fire Commission for 10 years. In recognition for his service to Elmhurst Phil was honored in 2018 receiving the inaugural Darrell Whistler Special Service Award for his service and devotion to Elmhurst.

Phil retired from Ameritech Services after 35 years, Risk Management Corporate Security. In retirement Phil and Cathy became world travelers marveling at the wonders of our wonderful world. In Phil's later years when asked how he was doing he always answered with a big smile "I'm Ok" never complaining He was known as the "comeback kid " surviving many health situations including Covid.

Phil will be remembered for his love of family and devotion to the Elmhurst community.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025 from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Elmhurst Community Funeral Home – THE AHLGRIM CHAPEL, 567 S. Spring Road, Elmhurst, IL. A Chapel Service will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025 from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Private inurnment at St. Mary's Cemetery & Columbarium in Elmhurst.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Phil's honor can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
